Three months after Connor Storrie became an overnight sensation from the hit TV show “Heated Rivalry,” he made his “Saturday Night Live” (SNL) hosting debut on Feb. 28. If you didn’t stay up to watch the broadcast, here’s everything you may have missed, from surprise cameos to funny sketches.
Storrie started the night with his monologue, making some funny comments along with expressing his gratefulness for the hosting opportunity. To match “Heated Rivalry’s” hockey theme, Storrie was joined by Team USA men and women’s hockey stars, Quinn and Jack Hughes, Hilary Knight and Megan Keller, fresh off their Olympic gold medal wins. Despite the controversies surrounding the USA men’s hockey team and their infamous phone call with President Trump, they managed to shine light on their achievements while also throwing in some jokes. “It was just gonna be us, but we thought we would invite the guys too,” Knight said.
The night continued with funny sketches, making everyone laugh as usual. Soon enough, Storrie’s co-star Hudson Williams made an appearance in the show, starring in a sketch about a failed marriage proposal that is continuously being interrupted by a group of men skating at an ice rink. Williams then went on to join Storrie, welcoming the musical guests of the night, Mumford & Sons.
Performing for their fourth time as the SNL musical guest, Mumford & Sons had set the bar high. The folk-rock band performed “Rubber Band Man” with Hozier, along with “Here” with Sierra Ferrell and Aaron Dessner.
Connor Storrie’s SNL debut was definitely one to remember for many reasons. While Storrie may have been an unknown actor last year, it is safe to say it is very possible to see him as the host of SNL again in the future.
