SUNY Brockport has announced a new multi-million dollar campaign, “Igniting Excellence: The Campaign for Brockport”, aimed at expanding experiential learning, boosting scholarships and funding emergency financial funds for students.
“Igniting Excellence” is SUNY Brockport’s most ambitious and expansive campaign yet, with a total fundraising goal of $40 million, which will provide crucial financial support and create more opportunities for enrichment for all students.
This latest campaign is part of SUNY Brockport’s efforts to mobilize alumni and supporters, with special emphasis on forming long-term relationships with the alumni, local community and donors to gain steady support for the institution.
Its slogan, “Ignite the future”, speaks to the overall mission of the campaign to invest in the futures of SUNY Brockport students to ensure that all have the resources to make the very most of their education and time at Brockport.

The “Igniting Excellence” campaign revolves around five main pillars with the hopes of building an even better Brockport for future Golden Eagles; these pillars are scholarships, student emergency funding, equity, diversity and inclusion, experiential learning, and The Fund For Brockport.
The scholarships pillar has a fundraising goal of $20 million and seeks to offer both need-based and merit-based aid to students through unrestricted, endowed scholarships. This will greatly reduce financial barriers and allow SUNY Brockport students to focus entirely on their education, rather than its cost.
The goal of student emergency funding is $5 million. Funds donated to student emergency funding will provide students facing sudden and extreme financial hardship with the immediate financial assistance needed to continue pursuing their studies.
The equity, diversity and inclusion pillar has an ultimate fundraising goal of $5 million. This facet of the “Igniting Excellence” campaign will ensure that equity, diversity and inclusion remain a fixture of the culture that comprises the SUNY Brockport community.
Experiential learning, an educational approach that centers around learning through direct experience and deep reflection on that experience, has a goal of $5 million. Support for financial learning gives SUNY Brockport students the opportunity to apply the skills they have learned in the classroom into practice in the practicing world, engaging in a plethora of hands-on experiences catered to their course of study and uncovering new areas of interest in their field.
The Fund for Brockport aims to raise a total of $5 million. The Fund for Brockport provides crucial support for students facing every stage and struggle that comes with the college experience. Unrestricted funds would allow SUNY Brockport to rise to the pressing financial needs of students as urgently as needed, as well as providing sound investments for new opportunities and enriching overall campus life.

Donations can be given to any or all aspects of the Igniting Excellence through three main methods; either online, through text by sending BROCKPORT to 41444, or mail.
In addition to gifted donations, SUNY Brockport is also hosting a silent auction event, in which all funds raised will be contributed to the campaign’s goal of $40 million.
The items available for bidding include an authentic Ellsworth the Eagle mascot head, a Buffalo Sabres suite life experience for 12 and a Buffalo Bills football helmet autographed by the team’s star quarterback and 2024 NFL MVP Josh Allen. To place a bid on any of the available items, visit here.
“Igniting Excellence: The Campaign for Brockport” has now raised over $30 million in funds to ensure that the financial future of prospective SUNY Brockport students will allow them to reach their full potentials.
