SUNY Brockport is celebrating its first-generation students with First-Gen Celebration Week and the first annual First-Gen Celebration Party.
First-Gen Celebration Week will run Monday, November 3 through Friday, November 7.
The week of celebrations kicked off with “Tabling in the Academic Success Center (ASC)”, where students could enjoy snacks, candy, first-generation stickers and had the opportunity to sign their name on the first-generation student banner. The celebrations continued into the afternoon with a slime making event, where students made slime from household ingredients with peer mentors.
At Tuesday’s “Advice & a Slice” event, students had the opportunity to join peer mentors and Academic Success Coordinator Jianna Howard with help building their Spring 2026 schedule with free pizza and wings.

Wednesday also featured another “Advice & a Slice” event, as well as “Tea & Cookies” later on in the day, where students joined the Drake Memorial library staff for tea and cookies and to learn more about the library’s helpful and supportive services.
The events will continue Thursday with “Tabling in the Union” from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., where students can enjoy cookies, first-generation swag and sign the first-generations student banner. Thursday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. will be will be “Trivia Night” the Brown building from 5 to 7 p.m.,
Rounding out this year’s First-Gen Celebration Week is the first annual First-Gen Celebration Party from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Union Ballroom. Students can celebrate being a first-generation student with food, games, photo ops, a t-shirt giveaway and have the opportunity to connect with campus partners.
