SUNY Brockport switches to virtual parking permits

SUNY Brockport’s parking permit system has gone virtual starting at the beginning of the Spring 2023 semester and for the foreseeable future. Rather than purchasing physical color-coordinated parking permits, Parking & Transportation Services will now utilize a new system, License Plate Recognition (LPR). With this system, your license plate acts as your permit and thus eliminates the need for a physical copy.

Making this change is easy. Prior to parking on campus for the Fall 2023 semester, students will purchase a virtual permit and register up to two vehicles in the parking portal. While the capacity to register two cars is new, note that only one vehicle per permit may be parked on campus at a time. According to Brockport Parking and Transporation Services, registering a vehicle that does not belong to you on your account is prohibited. In the event that a rental car is needed or vehicles need to be changed in a single day, students may contact Brockport Parking and Transportation Services.

Because LPR relies on your license plate information, all information must be correctly input to void parking citations. SUNY Brockport is not obligated to void citations due to inaccurate information.

Students may find more information regarding virtual permitting here or may contact Brockport Parking and Transporation Services for further information at 585-395-7275.
