Saturday sports wrap

Hockey 

The Brockport hockey team dropped their second game in a row Saturday, losing 4-1 to Oswego State. The Golden Eagles were outshot 46-17 in the contest. Adam Beauvais scored the lone goal for the Green and Gold assisted by Connor Galloway and Jacob Rodrigue. Their record now sits at 3-4 on the season. The team will return to action Saturday on the road against Elmira College. 

Wrestling 

The Brockport wrestling team had a strong showing at the Empire Collegiate Wrestling Conference Championship. The team finished second place overall with 132 points with 11 wrestlers placing. The Golden Eagles also finished second place at last year’s ECWC Championship. Liam Bullock and Elijah Sims took first place at 125 and 149 respectively to lead the team. Matthew Kline, Gavin McLaughlin and Michael Sullivan chipped in with second place finishes. The team will next be in action at the New Standard Corporation Individual at York College December 2 and 3. 

Women’s Basketball 

The SUNY Brockport women’s basketball team suffered a heartbreaking 55-57 home loss to William Smith. The score was close through the entire game and included four ties and three lead changes. William Smith began to pull away in the fourth quarter and led 49-39 with just a few minutes remaining. The Golden Eagles would go on a run by scoring a couple of free throws and a three-pointer to cut the lead to three with just one minute and 20 seconds remaining. Unfortunately, Brockport was unable get over the hump and would lose the game 55-57. Senior Anna Felice had 13 points to go along with two blocks to lead the Golden Eagles in scoring. Junior Zairea Hannah scored 10 points as well as 10 rebounds to earn a double-double in just her second game for the Green and Gold. Lastly, freshman Stephanie Jean-Baptiste’s 10-point performance was the first double digit scoring game of her collegiate career. The Golden Eagles fall to 1-1. Their next game is Tuesday, Nov. 22 for a road game against RIT. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.
