Track & Field competes at Regional Championships

The SUNY Brockport men and women’s track and field teams competed at the All-Atlantic Regional Track & Field Indoor Conference Championships hosted by Nazareth College last weekend. 

The women earned a second place finish out of 31 teams with a score of 61. The shot putters scored the most points for the Golden Eagles earning 13 of the Green and Gold’s 61 total points. Sarah Crockett earned a first-place finish in day one of the meet while setting a new facility record with a 13.98m shot put throw. Alayna Ramirez finished third in the weight throwing event with a 16.16m throw while Crockett finished fifth with a throw of 15.91m. Halle King placed fourth in the long jump with a season best 5.50m mark. Lastly, Michaela Levesque had an impressive outing and recorded a second-place finish in the high jump after clearing a mark of 1.65m.  

The men finished in sixth place with a score of 33 points. The distance medley relay team shined bright, earning a second-place finish in the event as well as setting a new school record with a time of 10:17:37. The team consisted of Thomas Kressely, Frank Derdzinski, Nick Markle and Jonathan Zavala. Josh Jeziorski recorded a fifth-place finish in the long jump with a mark of 6.81m and Zavala placed fourth in the men’s 800m with a time of 1:55:90.

Those who qualified from the men and women’s indoor track and field team will travel to Winston-Salem, North Carolina, on March 11 and 12 for the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships.
