The SUNY Brockport volleyball team swept Buffalo State 3-0 in the SUNYAC conference quarterfinals. The defending champs have been perfect at home this season winning all 12 of their home games.
Andrea Coyle and Myah Frostclapp lead the team in kills with 10 and seven while both impressively recording hitting percentages above .500. They were also active on the defensive end. Frostclapp got up for one solo and one block assist while Coyle recorded four digs.
Meaghan Mastro led the way defensively totaling a match-high six blocks. Shelby Budnick added 10 digs as well as tying her season-high for serving aces with six. Lastly, Kerri Mchale had a great performance from as setter accounting for 25 of her team’s 33 assists.
After winning the first two sets with convincing scores of 25-11 and 25-12, Buffalo State fought hard to avoid the sweep. Buffalo battled to gain a 7-6 lead before Brockport would recapture it at 15-14. From there the Golden Eagles would only allow two more points, winning the final set 25-16.
The three seed Golden Eagles will head to Cortland for the semifinals where they’ll face #2 Geneseo in what will be a 2019 SUNYAC Finals rematch on Friday, Nov. 5 at 4 p.m. The winner will face-off against the winner of the Cortland and New Paltz matchup in the finals.
