Brockport Golden Eagles outfielder Michael Norton was named the Empire 8 Baseball Player of the Week on Monday. Norton went 4-for-12 and drove in a team-high seven runs across three games in Canton, OH over the weekend, his first three games as a Golden Eagle.
The Dunkirk, NY native transferred to Brockport after spending the previous two seasons with the Wheeling University Cardinals. Norton hit .194 with three home runs, seven RBI and a .383 OBP across 17 games with the Cardinals in 2025.
“The main thing that attracted me (to Brockport) was just the culture,” Norton said. “That blue collar, go get it done attitude is just something I live by, and I knew Brockport was the fit for me.”
Norton also played baseball at Cayuga Community College from 2022-2023. In 2023, he was named to the Region III first team, leading his team in home runs (6), RBI (56), doubles (26), hits (58) and batting average (.420). His RBI total led Region III, and he finished in the top ten in batting average and home runs.
“My personal goal is to be an All-American,” Norton said. “My goal for the team is to be playing in those regional games and climbing the ranks to get to where we ultimately want to go, and that’s the College World Series.”
The Golden Eagles have started the season 0-3. They’ll travel to Massachusetts this weekend for two doubleheaders against UMass Boston and UMass Dartmouth
