After 18 months, Netflix popular original series Stranger Things made its return for season five on November 26, 2025, just before the holidays. Creators of the series hinted at latest information about the shows final season, leaving fans eager to hear what is next to come.
Stranger Things first premiered in 2016, becoming one of Netflix’s most successful series gaining tons of popularity. The series is set in the 1980’s, following a group of friends in the town of Hawkins, Indiana; where they face secret government supernatural humans and their powers.
The final series features many familiar faces, some new or brought back from earlier seasons. Star actor Millie Bobby Brown returns playing her role as supernatural Eleven, alongside her friends Mike, Will, Lucas, Dustin, and Max. Another returning actor from Season Two is Linnea Berthelsen playing Eleven’s sister, Kali. Who makes her way back into Eleven’s life in Season Five where they team up to end the upside-down world. They are both supernatural humans experimented on by actor Matthew Modine who plays Martin Brenner in the Hawkins laboratory.
Jamie Campbell Bower has mastered multiple roles throughout the series as Vecna, Henry, Mr. Whatsit and the Mind Flayer, and has consistently portrayed his character as powerful. His performance amazed the critics with the versatility of the character and the emotion used.
Produced, written, and created by the Duffer brothers Matt and Ross Duffer, Stranger Things is set in March of 1986 from Season Four to the Fall of 1987 in Season Five. Since Season Four, the friend group finds themselves distant due to their physical and mental differences. They come back together to resolve the unfinished business that they’ve been running from. The only way to make Hawkins a safe place again is if they can put their differences aside and be truthful with one another to put an end to the threat that has been happening since the beginning.
Although Stranger Things may have been one of Netflix’s best series, fans have had mixed opinions about the season finale. According to Rotten Tomatoes and IMDb, some fans said this season felt rushed and left them with many unanswered questions. For example, are the children at the end supposed to replace the original group? With Eleven living is there an opportunity for another season and how did black magic end up in human hands? Some say this season was good and different from past seasons, making it very emotional by connecting the end to Season One when they were children. Finally, others believe Max’s character was essential to Season five; others believe her character was a waste and took up too much film time along with Kali’s character. Some are sad about the departure of the show and are going to miss the 80’s nostalgic vibes the series had.
