Planetarium unveils new show “Saturn & Beyond”

SUNY Brockport’s planetarium has unveiled a new show, “Saturn & Beyond”.

This latest installment is a continuation of the planetarium’s fall 2025 series of free and public shows for both SUNY Brockport students and the Brockport community to enjoy.

Following a curated tour of the night sky, visitors will learn about the history behind the discovery of Saturn’s rings and be fully immersed in the beauty of Saturn and the solar system.

This new show coincides with the remarkable all-night visibility of Saturn due to a phenomenon called opposition, which coincided with the fall equinox on September 21. During opposition, the Earth is positioned directly between Saturn and the Sun. This causes Saturn to appear opposite the Sun, shining as a bright yellow point of light all night long.

The next showing of “Saturn & Beyond” is slated for Friday, Nov. 21. The planetarium is located in room 134 of Lennon Hall.

Doors open at 5:45 p.m., with seating available on a first-come, first-serve basis. “Saturn & Beyond” will began at 6 p.m. and run until 7 p.m.
