SUNY Brockport’s beloved mascot Ellsworth the Eagle has celebrated another year around the sun, turning a landmark 67 years old.
Students gathered in the main lounge and ballroom of the Seymour Union to celebrate Ellsworth at a birthday party hosted by the Brockport Student Government on October 9.

The birthday bash threw it back to Y2K with a 2000’s theme that featured all the essential birthday treats and decorations, from candy and cupcakes to beaded necklaces in SUNY Brockport’s classic green and gold colors. And of course, candles for Ellsworth to make a special birthday wish.
Though Ellsworth has stood the test of time throughout his long career as the spark behind SUNY Brockport’s school spirit, he recently received a much-needed makeover as an early birthday present.
Ellsworth’s redesign was unveiled as part of this year’s homecoming weekend festivities. Sporting new sharp talons, a sleeker curve to his signature green beak and newly reimagined fierce eagle eyes, SUNY Brockport’s beloved bird is looking better than ever before.

Though no matter how many times he molts his feathers, Ellsworth will remain the heart and wings of SUNY Brockport’s pride and spirit for many birthdays to come.
