SUNY Brockport delivered a commanding performance against Keuka resulting in a 4–0 win in their second conference play of the year. The Golden Eagles improved to 2-4-1 overall and 1-1-0 in conference, while Keuka remains winless at 0-2-0.
“I think the nice things in the game were the ideas, and the solutions we’re trying to figure out in practice,” Brockport Men’s Soccer head coach Gary LaPietra said. “They came today, and they actually tried to solve things on their own. It was fun, because they stayed connected and they were patient.”
Brockport opened the scoring early in the ninth minute when senior Max Voyer found the back of the net. The forward registered his first goal of the season.
“We needed a big bounce back game and that’s what we did today,” Voyer said.. “We’ve had a tough schedule, we’ve gone through a lot of injuries and today we needed to come out and get a good result.”
Brady Reinagel doubled the lead in the 48th minute, assisted by Voyer. Junior Trevor Lagarde and freshman Micaiah Benjamin-Castle added one goal each in the 81st and 82nd minutes respectively to seal the victory for the Golden Eagles. Benjamin-Castle’s goal was assisted by sophomore Keegan Watson.
“I saw that there was nobody on the back post, so I took the opportunity to make a run back post, received the ball from Keegan and placed it at the back of the net,” Benjamin-Castle said. “This win really helped us a lot. We’re going into our next game with a lot of energy and motivation.”
The Golden Eagles outshot Keuka 23–3, with seven shots on target compared to just one from the Wolves. Brockport also earned nine corner kicks and committed only six fouls at full-time. Goalkeeper AJ Nelson recorded a clean sheet with one save, while Keuka faced 23 shots and made three saves.
With this result, Brockport continues to build momentum in conference play. The Golden Eagles will host Hartwick College on Saturday, Sept. 27. The kickoff is scheduled at 4 p.m.
