Looking for something to do on campus?
The SUNY Brockport Planetarium has officially opened for another year full of radiant and star-studded shows. To kick off the year, “Messengers of Time and Space” takes the screen, discussing and displaying the best telescopes that the National Science Foundation has in its repertoire. The National Science Foundation is a federal agency of the United States and their role since the 1950s is to promote and advance different areas of science, including biology, chemistry, mathematics and space.

Not only does the show present the roles of telescopes along with their breath-taking images but also cites the importance of the NSF- DOE Vera C. Rubin Observatory. The observatory houses the largest camera ever made, which will record and inventory the sky for a ten-year stretch, making it the largest collection of data of the night sky in the world and uncover answers to unsolved space mysteries.
Interested? The Brockport Planetarium is located in the Lennon building of the Smith-Lennon Science Center. Doors open at 5:45 pm and seats are on a first come, first served basis. If you miss the showing on September 19, the Planetarium continues to show “Messengers of Time and Space” throughout the rest of September and October every other week.
