The SUNY Brockport men’s lacrosse program had four athletes on the Empire 8 All-Conference teams; senior midfielder Nate Askin and senior defender Tim Hubbard received second-team honors, while graduate student Carson Colucci and senior midfielder Jack Rice received third-team honors.
Askin, a senior midfielder, earned his third consecutive Second Team All-Conference honor after a dynamic season. Askin tallied 27 goals and 17 assists for a total of 44 points, taking 94 shots with a .287 shooting percentage. He ranks sixth in program history with 75 goals, 42 assists and is fifth all-time in points with 117.
“It felt good, especially being with the high competition of a lot of good teams, it felt even better,” Askin said. “Yeah, it was [a goal]. Joining the Empire 8, I knew the competition would be high… My initial reaction was that I was happy to see my other teammates also go All-Conference, first thing I did was congratulate them.”
Askin pointed to the matchup versus SUNY Potsdam, which Brockport won in overtime, as a defining moment of the season.
“My teammates played a huge role,” he added. “Either in practice or just bringing energy to the games.”
Tim Hubbard, a senior defender, also secured a spot on the second team All-Conference for his second consecutive season.
Hubbard racked up 27 ground balls to reach 102 ground balls in his Brockport career and caused 20 turnovers, finishing with 45 caused turnovers in his tenure.
“I was definitely glad to hear that I was named to the All-Conference second team,” Hubbard said. “The first thing I did, actually, was text Carson Colucci and congratulate him as well… I was happy to see that we got a good group of guys on the team that hype each other up when good things happen.”
Hubbard emphasized the importance of leadership and team spirit.
“As far as individual goals go I was just trying to be a leader for the underclassmen…Hopefully, I was able to set a good example for the returning players so that they are able to see what I did and the work I put in can replicate that.”
He highlighted the game versus Alfred as a pivotal point in the season, where the team’s energy and unity led to a critical win. He also gave special thanks to teammates like Askin and Colucci for pushing him in practice and supporting him throughout the season.
“I think the camaraderie and the team as a whole together got closer…Those are the type of things that create friendships that will last even after lacrosse is over.”
Colucci, a graduate student and attackman, was named to the All-Conference third team and the E8 Sportsman of the year following a successful season as Brockport’s leading goal scorer. He recorded 29 goals and 5 assists, for 34 points, with a shooting percentage of .372 on 78 shots, while adding 25 ground balls and seven caused turnovers. Colucci finishes his career ranking in the top 10 in program history in goals scored.
“I was pretty excited. It’s the first time I had gotten All-Conference recognition in my years here,” said Colucci. “At the beginning of the season, it was definitely something to strive for, but I wouldn’t say I was focused on it. I was more focused on getting good chemistry within the team and getting wins as a group.”
As a veteran leader on a young team, Colucci made it a priority to help build culture and cohesion.
“We were really focused on building the culture and getting better every single day, whether that was in the weight room or on the field…we did a great job this season and made the playoffs.”
Rice, a senior midfielder, joined Colucci on the All-Conference third team in his first season with the Golden Eagles. Rice had a strong offensive campaign, contributing 22 goals and 16 assists for a total of 38 points. He took 85 shots, finishing the season with a .259 shooting percentage. Rice would also scoop up six ground balls and cause two turnovers and finished the 2025 campaign on an
eight-game goal streak.
The Golden Eagles concluded their 2025 campaign with an 8-9 record overall, while finishing 5-4 in Empire 8 play. This was their first season making the playoffs since 2022.
