Jaylah Cossin capped off her Brockport soccer career by being named a Division 3 First Team All-American, recognizing her as one of the top four forwards in all of NCAA Division 3 women’s soccer. Cossin is the program’s first First Team All-American.
“I’m incredibly honored and honestly a little speechless,” Cossin said. “It’s hard to put into words how much this means to me. I’m so grateful for the recognition and the opportunity to represent my program and school in this way. It feels like a really special way to close out my career, and I’m just overwhelmed with gratitude for everyone who has been part of this journey.”
In Cossin’s two-year career at Brockport, she has put together an impressive resume. In her first season in the green and gold in 2023 she earned a Second Team All-SUNYAC selection and was a First Team All-Region selection. In her second season in 2024, she was named to the First Team All-Conference in the Empire 8, Empire 8 Offensive Player of the Year and once again was selected First Team All-Region.
In 2022, as a member of the Cazenovia women’s soccer team, Cossin earned a First Team All-Conference selection as a player in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC).
“Any success I had came from a combination of many things,” Cossin said. “A big part came from hard work, staying present, and truly appreciating the opportunity to play. I made it a point to bring my best every day, whether in practice or games, and to focus on what I could control. But another big part of it was because I was fortunate to be surrounded by great teammates and coaches who pushed me to grow and supported me throughout my journey. Ultimately, it was about enjoying the process and giving everything I had to the game I love.
In Cossin’s two seasons at Brockport, she has racked up 22 goals, 15 assists and 59 points. She is tied for 13th all-time in career points, ranks 13th all-time in goals and is tied for 10th all-time in assists.
“My time as a Golden Eagle has been such a meaningful experience,” Cossin said. “This program has helped me grow both as a player and as a person, and I’m so thankful for everything it has given me. Playing soccer here was an incredible opportunity, but what stands out the most are the relationships I built with my teammates and coaches. They made every step of the journey special, and I’ll always look back on my time here with gratitude.”
She helped lead the 2024 Golden Eagles to a historic season, which concluded with a first-round loss to Wesleyan, 4-1, in the NCAA Tournament. Brockport finished the season 15-2-2 overall and 10-1 in Empire 8 play.
