SUNY Brockport President Heidi MacPherson released a statement Monday afternoon alerting the community that the college has elevated its COVID-19 risk level.
The risk level moved from Green (New Normal) to Blue (Intermediate Alert). The move is a proactive measure as cases in Monroe County are rising. When the school year began in August, Monroe County was considered ‘very low-risk’ and has since increased two levels to ‘moderate risk’.
President MacPherson said that even though there are only six active cases within the college community, reports of student travel are increasing which could lead to a spread of the virus.
There are six weeks until classes move to remote instruction.
Until then, students are advised to continue to social distance, wash hands, disinfect work and study spaces, avoid unnecessary travel and wear facial coverings.
