This past Monday it was announced that Natalie Galioto was named National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) East events specialist of the week.
Brockport won first place at the Empire State Collegiate Championship this past weekend. Galioto played a big part in that, posting her season-best score on vault, balance beam and floor. She earned a 9.600, 9.775 and 9.750 in the three events respectively.
Galioto likes to see her hard work paying off and the encouragement from teammates.
“It definitely feels rewarding to be recognized after putting so much time, effort, and heart into my routines in the gym,” Galioto said. “My teammates are so encouraging and supportive, and each one of them has led me to get better in one way or another.”
Galioto is looking forward to getting back to work and improving her performance.
“Although I am happy with my routines from this past weekend, I know that there are still things that I can improve on all three events.” Galioto added. “I plan to take each turn in practice with intent, as the quality of each skill is more important than quantity at this point in the season.”
Galioto is taking it one step at a time as Brockport tries to return to the national stage.
“As we get closer to Nationals, we focus more on the small details, as every tenth matters in the post season,” Galioto said. “Also, as the pressure rises it is crucial that we focus on our mindset, staying calm and confident, by trusting our training going into each meet.”
The Golden Eagles return to action on Feb. 18 as they travel to Ithaca to compete in the Harriet Marranca Memorial Invite.
