BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The Brockport men’s soccer team battled Ithaca College to a 0-0 draw in a nonleague matchup Saturday. Brockport came into the game with a 2-2-1 record, looking to bounce back after defeats against No. 12 Messiah University and Gettysburg College last weekend. They faced an Ithaca team on a hot streak, who was undefeated in their first three games.
The Golden Eagles outshot Ithaca 14-7, with Brockport goalkeeper Andrew Taylor and Ithaca goalkeeper Johannes Berghahn each making three saves. Much of Brockport’s attack came from corner kicks, of which they had 12, compared to Ithaca’s four.
The visiting Bombers created their own scoring chances, but their efforts were thwarted by the Brockport backline. The Golden Eagle defense was led by Josh Fitzpatrick, Dylan Rippe, and Seamus Parker, each playing all 90 minutes.
The tie moves the Golden Eagles record to 2-2-2. Brockport opens SUNYAC play next Wednesday at home against Buffalo State at 4 p.m.
