Sometimes, a little furry friend can help brighten up your day. As some students don’t have a pet, Residential Life and RocDog have partnered to bring some four-legged friends to campus.

RocDog, a popular therapy dog group, travels to various places across Rochester such as hospitals, BOCES Spencerport, elementary schools and SUNY Brockport. These service dogs are brought by different volunteers through RocDog.

Gordon Hall hosted three service dogs on Feb. 2. Greeted with friendly smiles and wagging tails, RocDog offered students the chance to spend time and get to know each dog and their owner. Just by being in the room, students started to report a decrease in their stress levels.

“My stress is lowered by being around dogs. I have a dog at home who I miss very much,” Tatiana Bovenzi said.

Upon arriving at this event, students have the option to log in using “Suitable,” which will notify via email where the therapy sessions will be held each week. RocDog visits different residential buildings every Thursday, from 3-4 p.m. Their full schedule can be found on Brockport’s event calendar.
