The Golden Eagles fell to Potsdam and Plattsburgh at home on Friday, Jan. 27 and Saturday, Jan. 28.
Starting off the weekend versus Plattsburgh, Brockport lost the fight 4-1. The Cardinals were able to score early in the first period. The Golden Eagles answered by tying the score in the second period with a goal from junior Connor Galloway. Galloway was assisted by freshman Manny Sanchez.
Just under two minutes after Galloway’s goal, the Cardinals scored their second goal of the game, giving them the leverage they needed to finish out the competition. They would go on to score two more goals in the final period.
Although Brockport took the loss, Golden Eagle goalie Nolan Egbert had 41 saves on the night.
On Saturday, the Golden Eagles started out strong against Potsdam.
By the end of the first period, Egbert was able to keep the Bears from scoring with eight saves. The score would remain 0-0. Moving on to the second period, junior Andrew Harley would see the puck hit the back of the net with an assist from Galloway. Heading into the third, the Bears had not yet found an answer; Brockport led 1-0.
The Bears would score their first goal almost halfway through the period, and despite Egbert’s 15 saves in the third, the Bears would gain the advantage 2-1 with two minutes left in the competition.
The Golden Eagles were unable to recover from the late score and ultimately took the loss.
With five SUNYAC games left in the season, Brockport will head to Cortland to play a 7 p.m. game on Friday, Feb. 3 and return home to face off against Oswego at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 4.
