The SUNY Brockport women’s basketball team lost 71-41 at home Saturday afternoon against the Cortland Red Dragons. Junior Zairea Hannah earned her second double-double of the season with a season high 14 points and 16 rebounds to go along with three blocks as the Golden Eagles fall to 3-3 overall with a 2-1 record in conference play.
The Red Dragons took control from the opening tip-off jumping out to an early 11-4 lead and ending the first quarter up 16-8. Cortland continued their exceptional play and extended their lead to 18 points to lead 35-17 heading into halftime.
Hannah scored six points early in the third quarter, however, it wasn’t enough to offset the scoring output by Cortland. Despite back-to-back three-point shots by Anna Felice and Mackenzie Higby to close the third quarter, the Cortland lead was 25 points going into the fourth quarter.
Anna Felice scored 11 points to go along with Hannah’s double-double. The Golden Eagles loss was their first SUNYAC loss of the season. Their next matchup is Tuesday, Dec. 6, when they travel to Fredonia for another conference battle. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
