The SUNY Brockport field hockey team came up short in a pivotal conference matchup against Oneonta 1-0. The loss eliminated them from postseason contention.
It was senior day for Brockport, and the six seniors, Bailey Lazore, Jillian Owens, Kaitlyn Aitken, Olivia Hayden, Emma Acevedo and fifth year Alyssa Fucillo, were honored in a ceremony prior to the game.
A tightly contested first half saw the teams tied at 0 with Brockport leading in shots 6-4.
Carly O’Conner finally broke the ice for the Red Dragons late in the third frame with what would be the only goal in this contest. The Golden Eagles made a late push, earning four penalty corners following the Oneonta goal, but were unable to score the equalizer.
Emmalee Moore recorded three of the five shots on goal for Brockport, while Paige Thowe and Lazore had one a piece. Goalie Ella Buchanon made two saves and gave up the lone goal.
The Golden Eagles are now 9-6 overall and 2-3 in conference play following the loss.
The team will finish off their season Wednesday after hosting SUNY Geneseo.
