The Brockport women’s basketball team lost their second game in a row after falling 48-62 to Geneseo on Friday, Feb. 4. The Golden Eagles fought hard, but the 18-point performances by both Geneseo’s Hannah Stockman and Megan Roell were too much to overcome.
Geneseo had three scorers in the double-digits while the Golden Eagles struggled to get on the board. Serena Sordetto led Brockport in scoring with eight points. Erin Nolan scored seven points and had a team-high of five rebounds. Erin Radack did a little bit of everything, tallying six points, four rebounds, three assists and four steals.
Both teams got off to a slow start as the game was tied 6-6 with 3:45 minutes remaining in the first quarter. Brockport went into the second quarter down by four points, and as the offenses began to roll, Geneseo doubled their lead going into halftime up 30-22.
It was a poor shooting night for the Golden Eagles. Brockport shot 34.5% from the field while only making one out of 11 attempted three-pointers. The Geneseo lead eventually reached double-digits in the third quarter, Brockport trailed 28-41 with five minutes remaining in the third. Geneseo then cruised to the finish line, leading by 18 points in the fourth quarter before coming away with the 48-62 victory.
The Brockport record falls to 9-10 overall with a 4-9 record against SUNYAC opponents. The Golden Eagles will look to bounce back at Potsdam on Friday, Feb. 11 at 5:30 p.m.
