At 4:26 p.m. on Wednesday, SUNY Brockport President Heidi Macpherson sent out an e-mail to the Brockport community regarding the Jalil Muntaqim event on April 6.
In response to recent backlash against Muntaqim’s invitation to speak on campus, the college has decided to move the event online to maintain the “safety and security of our community.” In addition, SUNY Brockport has also decided to build a plan to maintain the safety of those on campus.
“To help mitigate any potential safety concerns around the Jalil Muntaqim event, we are engaging with key partners to build a plan that prioritizes the safety of our students, faculty, staff and campus guests,” Macpherson said in her e-mail.
For those planning on attending, details surrounding the virtual event are still being finalized and will be released shortly.
