High school students interested in attending SUNY Brockport have one less thing they need to stress about. As of late October, admission to almost every program at Brockport will be test optional, meaning SAT and ACT scores are not required.
There will still be some programs that will need test scores to be submitted. The SUNY Brockport website states that, to ensure direct entry to the nursing program, SAT or ACT scores will still be required. Students will still be considered for direct entry to the nursing program even if they decide not to submit standardized test scores.
According to SUNY’s online undergraduate application instructions, all SUNY schools are taking a similar approach to the SAT and ACT due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“SUNY has temporarily suspended SAT/ACT testing requirements for students applying for admission to a SUNY bachelor’s degree-granting campus for the spring 2021, fall 2021 and spring 2022 terms,” the instructions state. “Therefore, you can choose whether or not you wish to have your SAT or ACT scores considered for admission at each campus you select.”
SUNY is still requiring test scores to be submitted in certain scenarios.
“Test scores may be required for admission to some programs. In addition, while not required for admission, test scores may be required for merit scholarship consideration. International students who are non-native English speakers and whose primary language of instruction in high school was not English are required to demonstrate English Proficiency by submitting scores from the SAT, ACT, TOEFL, IELTS or PTE. Division I student-athletes must meet all NCAA eligibility requirements, which may include submitting test scores.”
